I've Been Thinking... - This Girl Can

Hi!!!

How are we all? This is one of my world famous posts about an ad campaign. OK, so maybe not world famous, but hopefully you'll like it. Today's advert is from the "This Girl Can" campaign. I really love this campaign (which you'll find out more about as we go on) and I really hope you enjoy.

The campaign "This Girl Can" launched fairly recently. I first saw it on Sky News Sunrise with the ever fabulous Eamonn Holmes and crew and I just fell completely in love with the advert, the campaign and what these amazing women stand for.

"This Girl Can" is one for all you lovely ladies out there.

The campaign is funny and witty (If you don't laugh at "I Jiggle, Therefore I Am" then I'm not sure we can be friends...) and is so relatable. It also features the music of the ever amazing Missy Elliot (who we all love, right?) which makes it so much fun to watch.

There are inspirational women of all shapes, sizes, ages, skills and abilities in the campaign, which is something I really like as it shows that being active, being healthy and taking care of yourself is something for everyone. These women look like the kinds of people you might know, which reminds you of this.

One billboard I have seen from the campaign is a phrase I really like: "I Swim Because I Love My Body, Not Because I Hate It". I like it because I see a lot of people hating the way that they look and hating their bodies. I'm not saying that you can't want to make a change, that you can't want to get fitter, to tone or to lose weight (or anything else) but the reasons must be right. Don't go into it hating your body. Go into it wanting to make your body better, to make you happy, to make you healthy (or something else) and you'll do much better.

This campaign serves as a great lesson for a number of people that exercise is for everyone, that how you look while you exercise isn't important and that a good lifestyle is a way to improve yourself in many ways (your health, your happiness, your looks etc.)

Leading a healthy and happy life is key for us all and "This Girl Can" is a reminder that nothing should stop you from achieving this or achieving your goals.

That's everything for today then, you guys. I hope that you enjoyed this post and that you like the campaign as much as I do.
What do you think of "This Girl Can"? Had you heard of it before now? Do you participate in any sports? Do you workout or do any other kind of exercise? Has this campaign helped change how you feel about sports and exercise whether you currently participate in it or not? Let me know in the comments below...
Thanks for reading this, everyone.

I hope your day is exceptional!

Makeup Your Mind - Makeup and Beauty Inspiration and Tips - Wear It. Beat It.

Hi!!!

Today is the British Heart Foundation's Wear It. Beat It Day and the BHF is a charity and a cause that I am so greatly behind. I think that since the idea is Wear It. Beat It that I could put together a few little makeup ideas for you to use if you choose to, to show your support. To read my post about Wear It. Beat It, click ME! This is going to be a long post, so grab a brew now!

I have three lots for you to try, and they are all conveniently put together in my beloved bullet pointed lists.

The steps are first, the products are after.

Look No. 1 = High Fashion Glamour

  1. Apply your choice of base. You may want to only use some concealer or you may want to opt for the full shehbang of primer, foundation, concealer and powder. Choose whatever you feel comfortable with although with this look, I would consider a full base as this is a fairly dramatic look. In terms of coverage, again, choose whatever you would like. I know some people like a full coverage with a dramatic look but others would rather a lighter coverage. Whatever makes you happy.
  2. Now, this look is the dramatic, out there, full power, high fashion look and so red eye shadow is going to be happening. Red eye shadow looks stunning when worn well. There are so many shades of red shadow. You can opt bright red or you could go for a pomegranate type of colour if that is more wearable for you/more up your street. I would probably blend some layers of a red shadow all over the lid, blending up and out (don't be afraid of it looking grunge). Make sure that you put on some black liner (whether it be in a winged kind of style or on the waterline or both) and lashings of black mascara to make sure it looks pretty and dramatic rather than making you look tired or ill. And blend, blend, blend people!
  3. As I said, this look is a dramatic one and that is why I would opt for something red on the lips, too. I would say that a full, red lip would look ace here, maybe even a matte one? Or you could always opt for a clear gloss if you prefer.
  4. If you wish to pop something on your cheeks, I would suggest contouring to keep with the dramatic themes. To contour, you can take a contour kit, bronzer, a powder or foundation/concealer that is a shade or two darker than your skin tone and blend that just under your cheekbones, and anywhere else that you wish to contour, and put a pearlescent highlighter along/above the cheekbones, down the bridge of your nose (stopping where the "straight line" of the bridge does) and on your cupids bow. For a visual demonstration, see (HERE).
  5. Tah-Dah! You're done!

Look No. 2 = The Little Mermaid

  1. Apply your choice of base. As I said in Look No. 1, choose the base you feel comfortable in. For this look, I would personally choose a fresh, glowy base applied and blended in with the hands.
  2. The eyes on this look are fairly simple. Sweep a champagne colour across your eyelids and blend up and out. This will brighten and lift the eyes. Then, take a white eyeliner pencil (a kohl, preferably) and pop that all along the waterline to really open up the eye and give that Disney Princess vibe. Add a few coats of mascara to the top lashes, ensuring that you comb them through after each application of mascara, and one to the bottom lashes, combing those through too.
  3. Obviously, if you have seen The Little Mermaid, you'll know that Ariel has that gorgeous red tone to her lips. A glossy red lip would look fabulous and Flounder and Sebastian would 100% approve.
  4. If you want to pop something on your cheeks, I would opt for a pretty, peachy blush with a shimmer to it to brighten and freshen the face. Blend it across your cheeks, and, as I do with my favourite peachy shimmer blush, brush the light, excess amount of it up through the temples, a bit down the nose and the chin and cupids bow, too, to make it look more natural (not sure if that made sense?)
  5. Tah-Dah! You're practically Disney royalty!
Look No. 3 = Raspberry Sundae Girl

  1. Apply your choice of base. As with Looks No. 1 and 2, choose the base you feel happiest wearing. For this look, I think that any kind of coverage would look good, but I would opt full to medium coverage, personally, in a doll like way.
  2. The eyes on this look are pretty, fun and a bit quirky. First of all we're going to pop a light, base colour on (you can choose the shade depending on preference and skin tone) and blend it up to the brow bone. Next, we're going to take a red eye liner and create a winged liner look with it. Make sure that the flick is sharp and angled (a la the beautiful Michelle Visage). Add some black mascara (to keep the eyes looking healthy) but comb it through. Pop a highlighting shade in the inner corner of the eye and blend it through the brow bone.
  3. Again, I'm going to suggest a red lip. A glossy, sheeny, cherry red lip. Or, if this doesn't sound up your street, a fuchsia or a shiny, clear gloss would be good, too.
  4. On the cheeks, I would suggest a nice, fresh looking cream blush swept along the cheeks. Then, I would draw the outline of little heart (representing the BHF) on one of my cheekbones (on the top part of it/closer to my ear than my nose... does this make sense?)  with some black eyeliner, fill in in with my red eyeliner and maybe go as far as using some lash glue or Vaseline to push on glitter over the red. Beaut.
  5. Tah-Dah! You are fun and fabulous!

Let's Make a Change - Helping the Cause - Wear It. Beat It.

Hi!!!

Today is the British Heart Foundation's Wear It. Beat It day. They've done it for quite a while now as an annual thing and as a big supporter of the British Heart Foundation, I thought I would do a little blog post about it.

Some Facts...

According the BHF website, one in four of our loved ones are lost to circulatory and heart disease.

Adults and children can both suffer with heart and circulatory conditions.

The BHF have pioneered life saving research for over 50 years and they have helped discover a whole host of treatments to help save peoples lives.

So, are you interested in joining the fight for every heartbeat? I hope so.

Here's What You Need To Know About Wear It. Beat It.

The idea of Wear It. Beat It is that you wear red to show your support.

You can incorporate red into your outfits by your clothes, your jewellery or accessories, maybe your shoes or your makeup.

I'm just writing a post about some ways to show your Wear It. Beat It support on your beautiful wee faces and I'll be posting that later tonight.

You can simply wear red throughout today and donate to the BHF but some people are going a step or two further with some awesome fundraising events. Whatever you are doing though, you have to Wear It.

The BHF website is full of fundraising ideas. Its obvs a bit late to be doing a fundraising event right now but you aren't limited to today. If you want you can stick with the themes and arrange something for another time - they'll never turn down a donation - and February is their BHF Heart Month after all.

Of course, you don't have to hold a fundraising event. You didn't even need to know that today was Wear It. Beat It. If you are in a position to and want to give money to the British Heart Foundation, then you can donate via their website or via your mobile phone.

You might even want to consider popping into one of their shops, too.

Lots of ways to help out then if you can and you want to. And if you can't right now, then don't worry - I just wanted to let everyone know about this so that they could if they were in a position to and felt so inclined.

Stick around to see my Wear It. Beat It beauty looks. I hope you enjoyed this post and that if you can and that you would like you that you go and support the amazing work the BHF does everyday. You  don't have to give the big bucks, just give what you can.
Have you been wearing red today? What do you think of Wear It. Beat It? Have you been fundraising? What did you do? Would you consider fundraising or donating now? Do you have any comments or suggestions for future posts? Tell me all about it in the comments.
See you later, lovely people.

Have a beautiful day!

So, To Sum It All Up - January Summary.

Hi!!!

How are we all, you lovely little people? I hope that we are all doing good. So, today, I shall be doing a January Summary. January seemed to go by in about a week - I do not know how this happened but we are in February already! What?!? Anywho, the Summary...

So what happened in January?

Starting the New Year...

I love when a New Year rolls around and you have all this time and space in front of you that hasn't been used yet and the start of this New Year was no exception.

We already have a few plans waiting within the next few months (like a holiday - so excited!) which is nice because there are already some things to look forward to.

I decided not to make new F5 Refreshes this year because I thought continuing on with the ones I made last year would be better.

I did a post about my F5 accomplishments from last year and my thoughts about this year and you can see it (HERE)

Going on Days Out...

I have been on all sorts of winters walks in this past month and they have been lovely. Wrapping up in long sleeved tops, my fabulous cable stitch crew neck (hand knitted by someone I know) and jeans or Super Cosy Tights from Primark and shorts or a skirt and walking around the local parks or lakes is so lovely.
It's nice to go out and do something simple and enjoyable like this, and it reminds me of the beauty of the places around me. Stopping for curly fries before heading home is great, too!

Going on a Night Out to Strictly Come Dancing...

My wonderful Auntie S got some tickets to go to the Strictly Come Dancing Live Tour earlier this month for Christmas. She invited me to go along with her and so all dolled up in the dress I got for Christmas and off we went.

The show was really good, Simon Webbe won the night we were there (rightly so, he's awesome) and I had such a brilliant night!

Highlights included: Dancing to Shake It Off, eating cupcakes, singing "Under the Sea" in the most on point manner, singing songs from Beauty and the Beast in the taxi home, "It's a Tommy Ten" (S will find that hilarious, you probably won't... sorry) and of course the amazing show itself - Simon Webbe's Tango anyone? How about Caroline Flack's Charleston? Craig Revel Horwood's sass? The singers? The sparkle? What an awesome time!

To read more about my Auntie S see (HERE) - also Happy Birthday for Tuesday!

For the Strictly website, click (HERE).

Also, huuuuuggge mega thanks to O for letting me have his ticket and go and spend a great evening with my lovely Auntie S, I really appreciate it!

Commemorating and Remembering on Holocaust Memorial Day...

The 70th Anniversary of the Liberation of Auschwitz was earlier this month and I think that it is very important that we all remember the things that happened there and all of the people whose lives were affected by the horrific things that happened there.

Remember, respect and know that there is nobody out there and nothing about you or your choices that can take away your value, your importance or your rights. Diversity makes us who we are, do not be afraid of what makes you different.

My Favourite Blog Posts of January

Anyone interested in some posts from my four favourite blogs? Here you go...

"I'd Swipe Right For You" on Charlotte's Web, (HERE)

Charlotte really shows off her funny, charming side in this post which is one of the reasons I love her blog.
With lines like " “I love gammon!”  Don’t we all mate." appearing in this post, I dare you not to smile.

"We Liked: The Simple Things" on Little Winter, (HERE)

I am a major lover of the simple things so this post was right up my street.
I now want to print all my photographs and have a big collage somewhere in my house like Katy has on her fridge as well as some Mini Eggs.
Also, I own those PJ bottoms, just saying...

"A Much Needed Break" on Made Up of Little Things, (HERE)

I enjoyed this post.
It looked like Rachael had an awesome time and I felt like this post let me experience some of that fun, quirky but relaxing experience, too.

"A poem and a picture {02}"on A Rosie Outlook, (HERE).

Poetry is a great love of mine and I think that it was brave of Rosie to share this, as poetry is so personal to its writer.
A unique post and boy can Rosie put together a nice little poem.

A Favourite Songs in January

There were lots but this beaut made the shortlist...

Keep Your Head Up by Ben Howard, (HERE)

I have loved this song since it first came out. It is one of my all time favourites and you just need to listen.

Thank you for reading you beautiful little people.
What did you get up to in January? What do you think of what I did? Do you like the blog posts? How about the song? Any comments or suggestions for future posts? Let me know in the comments below.
So, see you tomorrow...

Have a wonderful day today!
