Style It Out - Fashion, Style and Get Ready With Me's - Christmas Day OOTD.

Hi!!!

Good morning and happy Blogmas Day Twenty Two (Christmas Day is within touching distance now and that makes me so happy). I've got Wizzard's 'I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday' playing in the background and I've got a big cup of tea and I'm feeling ready and inspired to write this post. Today I wanted to show you the outfit I'm planning to wear on Monday (or as it is otherwise known, Christmas Day, no big deal).

Everyone has different ideas of the ideal Christmas outfit. I know, for instance, that some people refuse to leave their pyjamas. I am someone who likes to get dressed up for Christmas. I always wear a dress and I take my time getting ready. After all, you can't get dolled up to celebrate Christmas, when can you?

This is my Christmas dress. It's Lindy Bop's 'Audrey' Swing Dress, and it does have a classic Audrey Hepburn quality to it with it's straight across neckline (which I am told is called a bateau neckline, but I think mine makes more sense), fitted natural waist and swishy circle skirt (yes, swishy is a technical fashion term, ask anyone). It has pockets (YAY!). It's a very festive shade of red - I love wearing a red dress for Christmas dinner, it just seems like the perfect piece for the occasion.
I like playing on the 1950s silhouette of the dress. I like wearing a short green cardigan, which is from The Collection at Debenhams, with the top button fastened which I think looks very 50s and very cute.
I think this would look amazing with a sparkly pair of heels and if I'm feeling super fancy and snazzy and supreme on Monday then I might pop those on. But if not then I have an alternative, and slightly more likely, option - my trusty red Converse high tops, which were actually a Christmas present a few years ago. They are that festive red, they are super comfy and easy to wear and I love the way Converse look when worn with dresses. I'll either have some white socks on with them or some super sassy Christmas socks - I am definitely one of those people who loves receiving socks as a Christmas present, they are a huge part of my #aesthetic.
Thanks for reading.
What are you going to wear on Christmas Day? Do you have any other comments or suggestions for posts you'd like to see in the future? Leave a comment to tell me.
I'll speak to you all tomorrow.

Have a brilliant day!

Style It Out - Fashion, Style and Get Ready With Me's - Christmas Jumper Day OOTD.

Hi!!!

It's Blogmas Day Fifteen and it's also Save The Children's Christmas Jumper Day! I thought I'd do something a little bit different than what I normally do here and show you my Christmas Jumper Day outfit because I haven't styled a Christmas Jumper like this before and I really like it.

If you read this post last year, you'll be familiar with this Christmas Jumper - I got it from New Look in Leeds a few years ago, and I fall more in love with it every time I look at it.
Last year I styled it with a black and white skirt, a white shirt underneath (that aesthetic collar) and a large 'vintage' denim jacket. I liked the mix of mod and 90s vibes.

This year, I've opted for a tailored, slightly grunge-y look (I love looks like these).
I played on the black of the jumper by styling it with some high waisted, belted, tapered trousers from Mango which can easily be styled up or down. I then decided that to toughen it up a little more I'd wear my Doc Martens. I have classic Cherry coloured Docs which add an accent of colour but maintain the structured, grunge feel of the rest of the outfit.

Depending on how cold it is, I'll either wear this with my leather jacket (this one - or nearly this one - from Wallis) or a long black coat (I have one from Next).

Whether your outfit has been planned as meticulously as this one or not, you can still donate to Save The Children's Christmas Jumper Day campaign HERE.

Thanks for joining me for today's Blogmas post.
Are you sporting a Christmas Jumper today? Do you have any comments or suggestions for future posts? Feel free to leave a comment below.
See you tomorrow,

Have a great day!

I've Been Thinking... - My New Favourite Magazine.

Hi!!!

Hey gang! I wanted to have a chat with you about a new discovery and a new favourite of mine. I recently found myself on a long train journey and - silly me - I hadn't brought along a book. I decided that I should grab something to keep me occupied on the return journey, especially as getting home always seems to take approximately nine-hundred-billion years longer than the outbound journey. I had a flick through the magazine racks at WHSmith and here's some thoughts on magazines in general and on what I found.

On the whole, I don't like glossy magazines much. Those concoctions of 95% adverts mixed with unattainably expensive products that can be entertaining but never seem to have enough going on for what you've paid and don't ever seem to fill as much time as you hope they will.

I wanted a magazine though because I do inherently love them. I have a great fondness for magazines - as a child I collected Bratz magazines and Girl Talk magazines and GoGirl magazines and I still have a lot of them.
I love the way magazines can contain so much - perhaps that's why I find it so frustrating when they are full of adverts. I love that they can include content on music and on fashion and some recipes and some lifestyle content and interviews, neatly packaged into one easy to digest bundle and with a fun to read format and style.

When I spotted Frankie magazine on the shelf and saw the beautiful cover, I thought it might be up my street. I saw some of the key featured topics written across the top - ranging from design, art and fashion to music, home and craft - and I knew I had to get it.

It's an Australian publication which is also sold in New Zeland and the UK.

I love the writing styles that feature in in - personable, warm and sometimes slightly cheeky prose written by a range of talented writers which gives the feeling of catching up with a group of friends.

The adverts featured in it are less frequent than in a glossy magazine and they actually advertise things that a typical person might be interested in which makes them far easier to get along with.

It's a beautiful publication with a minimalist layout, with pastel colours used to accent titles and gorgeous photography. A copy of Frankie is a really lovely thing to own.

At 128 pages, the majority of which are filled with words and photographs, I was able to continue reading it long after my hour and a half long journey home. I had plenty to keep me occupied on the train and I still had lots to read with a cup of tea in the mornings for a good while after.

It also came with a gorgeous photographic poster - which was 100% my aesthetic (colourful, a little bit kitsch, soft focus - 10 out of 10) - with a two month calendar on the back which made my day and looks delightful in my room.

Most importantly though, reading it really made me feel inspired. It made me feel inspired to produce content, the interviews inspired me and opened my eyes to the amount of opportunities there are and can be for creative people.
I felt inspired to try new things, to be kinder and be more silly and more spontaneous and I felt inspired to seek new perspectives.
Reading Frankie has been a really positive and enjoyable part of October.

I'd urge you to go out and grab their November/December issue if you can - if September/October is anything to go by, it'll be great.

I hope you enjoyed this post and have found a new source of offline inspiration.

Have a spectacular day!

Shopping for Treats - Hauls and Wishlists - Black Friday Sales Haul

Hi!!!

So how long ago did I last do a haul? And did you know I've never posted a clothing haul, only beauty? Guess it's just not normally my thing. But today I have one and it's all about the bargains I scooped up on Black Friday. I am really excited to give this kind of post a go, so let me know what you think.

Jumper, H&M

I called into H&M on Black Friday with Elf Girl because she wanted to get something and then I saw this jumper and ended up buying something too. I love H&M jumpers because they are always soft and comfortable and I really like the colour and cut of this one. I lovr the speckle through this as well, because it just adds something a little different. They do a bunch of colours including a lovely shade of green which Elf Girl bought. I can't seem to find them online but do look in store if you like it or maybe a look at the rest of their lovely jumpers here.

Aloe Calming Foaming Wash, The Body Shop.

The day before Black Friday, I went into The Body Shop because I needed face wash, completely forgetting about it being Black Friday week, and nearly exploded with excitement when the girl behind the till said £4. So I went and bought another on actual Black Friday because a bottle is normally £7 and the discount was fantastic.  Anyway, I love this product so much and highly reccomend it. You can shop it here.

White Trainers, New Look

The rest of this haul is New Look based because their sale was full of great stuff at great prices. My package arrived today - I opted for 5-7 working days free delivery so I was super excited about that and wanted to mention it to you guys. Basically, shoes are my weakness and I've wanted some white trainers for a while now- I think they look awesome with so many things and so I'm excited to style them. You can check these out here.

Checked Shirt, New Look

I love shirts. I wear them loads. I didn't have one like this and when I saw this I fell in love - I think this will look really nice worn open over other tops and also worn buttoned up normallum The dark blue really makes the green check stand out, and I love the way that looks. The material is also really nice and quite thick, which impressed me.  If you also want a shirt like this, you can find them here.

Black Ankle Boots, New Look

I have a pair of black ankle boots that I wear all the time and so when I saw these I put them straight in the basket. They are leather, which is great, and they have really lovely metal detailing which I love. They also have a good sized heel which is something I really like about them. They are really lovely boots and I'm very happy about this purchase. Shop them here.

Stripe Wrap Dress, New Look

I don't think that I have ever owned a wrap dress before now... I mean I'm not 100% sure but I really don't remember any. It seems so odd now because I do really like the style. I think the shape of this is really flattering and I love the combination of the red, white and black colours. There are so many ways to style wrap dresses, so I think I'll get a lot of wear out of this piece. It also has a tie belt thing but I untied it for the photo so you could get a better view of the skirt. This exact one is out of stock, but if you like the style, here's some with different colours in.

Stripe Midi Dress, New Look

Apparently, I have this thing with stripe-y dresses... This one is Midi length - it looks longer in the photo but clothes are so tricky to photograph - which means I'll be able to dress this up or down with ease, and I love the crisp white stripes on the very dark blue. It's also got a tie belt thing around the waist, which makes it really flattering. I'm basically in love, haha. You can snap one up here.

So, I hope you enjoyed that - I know it was a little different, hopefully in a good way.
Did you buy anything in the sales? Have you got any other comments or maybe a suggestion for future posts you'd like to see? Let me know in the comments.
Thanks for reading.

Have a wonderful day!
