Do Re Mi Fa So La Ti Do - Music - Five Love Songs That Won't Make You Nauseous.

Hi!!!

As it's Valentine's Day soon, I thought I should write some kind of post. And I thought that one about love songs would be fun to put together, and could be enjoyed by everyone. I am a huge fan of a good love song but I do have very specific requirements for what I like. Therefore, this is a list of the kind of love songs that are beautiful and meaningful, and won't make you do a little sick in your own mouth (lol).

This song is stunning. It's taken from the soundtrack from Submarine, which I personally think is amazing, and this is one of my personal favourite songs from it. There's a beautiful contrast between how delicate most of the music on the track is and then the percussion that guide it. The lyrics are, as we've come to expect from Turner, poetic and yet simple. It has a chilled, almost psychedelic vibe to it, which I'm naturally drawn to. It has both youthful and classic qualities, resulting in something beautiful that you can really fall in love with.

Me and You by Jake Bugg

Me and You is a track from the album Shangri-La. It was supposedly written when Jake was still at school, and while I can't say whether or not this is true, it certainly possesses youthful and innocent qualities. The lyrics are sweet - but not saccharine, it's never saccharine with Jake's lyrics. They are thoughtful. It's a track played on acoustic guitar, which adds to the appeal for me (I'm a massive fan of acoustic guitars), and it's played in a slightly faster, more upbeat way than some of the others. It is one of my favourite songs, not only of Jake's but ever.

If I Had a Gun... by Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds

If I Had a Gun is very artistic and poetic. The lyrics are Romantic in all senses of the word - slightly dramatic, captivating and meaningful. Noel's voice is somewhat softer than his brother's but it still has those familiar Mancunian tones which Oasis fans will be fond of. The way Noel sings this is interesting, and makes you listen - for instance, he sings 'up' at the end of a lot of the lines - and I think this is really cool. This song is mainly guitar based, which I again love.

Hey There Delilah by The Plain White T's

Hey There Delilah has been one of my favourite songs for years and years. This is an acoustic guitar piece from the 00s, and the gentle, melodic picking of this tune is memorable and iconic. The lyrics are youthful and romantic and automatically involve the listener. The vocals are soft and simple, which is perfect for this song. It seems a simple piece, but it has many layers, and has come to mean so much to so many people, including me.

Grow Old With Me by Tom Odell

Grow Old With Me is a single from Tom's first album, A Long Way Down, which was awesome. Grow Old With Me is an uplifting song, played on the piano (as all of Tom's songs are). He has a great command of the piano, and you can see that here. Lyrically, the song is hopeful and sweet, with little moments and feelings at the centre of it all. The combination of all these elements, and the power of Tom's voice create a piece that is delicate and pretty and yet packed with power and feeling.

Thank you for reading.

So, To Sum It All Up - February Summary.

Hi!!!

Another month of 2014 gone already? Wowza. Although, I'm blaming this on the fact that February is a short month and nothing else. Anyway, enough about my 80 year old rants, onto the post.

Celebrating People's Birthdays.

My Auntie S's birthday was last month, and my family and I had some fish and chips at my Nan's house to celebrate, gave her cards and stuff, and we all had a really nice time. I really hope she had the lovely day she deserves and I loves her very much.

But I've even been celebrating the birthdays of musicians.
The 28th of February is the utterly amazing Jake Bugg's birthday, and I "celebrated" by listening to his music. It was also Kurt Cobain's (RIP) birthday on the 20th, so I listened to Nirvana. I was going to do blog posts on their birthdays but didn't get round to it, which is.... irritating.

(HERE) is a link to the post I did for Auntie S's Birthday.
I have put a link to Jake Bugg's VEVO (HERE) -  I cannot recommend you his work enough, and also, try and find his MTV Live Vibrations, tis good stuff...
I have put a link to Nirvana's VEVO (HERE).

Feeling The Love...

February is a month of love and stuff.
I do like to remind people of priorities though. I like to think about all of the things that I love and I think about how much I love the people around me, and how much they (hopefully) love me. I really hope that you have all enjoyed your Valentine's Day/Lovey Dovey Month, and I loves you all very muchly.

Getting The News That We Are Moving House.

I am so excited about moving house, and late last month when I told you guys I was very excited to tell you. Its so nice to tell people like you guys about the news I have, and its nice to think that you guys might be happy for me.

Stepping Out The Old Comfort Zone.

This month, I have done things that I am unfamiliar with, and taken on things I thought I would find really challenging (e.g plane journeys and job interviews), however it has shown me that I mustn't limit myself, because as Elf Girl kindly told me "You can do anything, well except turning into a dragon..." - that's why I love that girl. Thanks by the way for being so supportive Elf Girl, as well as everyone else who has shown me support through these ventures, and you guys, as I feel I always have your support.

My Favourite Blog Posts Of February.

Lengthy list this month, because people have been hot on the blogging front.

Five Reasons Why Blogging Is Awesome (And You Should Do It) on A Rosie Outlook (HERE).

Obviously, I already have a blog, and so this post didn't need to convince me to blog. However, it is great when you see that other people have started noticing things differently since blogging, and that blogging is very much a passion and can be quite cathartic... And also, the first picture in this post is so cute!

This Is Adorable on Charlottes Web (HERE).

Yes, this was more of a show and tell kind of post, rather than Charlotte's own original content, but a) Charlotte has good taste, as shown here by the whole Tiffany thing, and b) it is worth a dedicated show and tell. So incredibly cute, and to think I wouldn't have found this if it wasn't for this post...

Strong Hearts on Chronicles Of The Red Herring (HERE).

I thought that this was lovely, and I really like this blog. It always makes me happy and has some beautiful writing on it. Its very unique and this post was no exception. Elf Girl can be very deep sometimes, *puts on snorkel*. Short, sweet, well worth a read.

Review: You've Been Mangoed Bath Melt By Lush on I Get The Feeling (HERE).

I liked this review. It was straight to the point, interesting, and has only increased my obsession with Lush more - like my bank balance needed that. This post was friendly (just like Lauren) and was a lovely read.

Other blogs with amazing posts this month were Little Winter (HERE),  The London Project (HERE) and Zoella (HERE).

Thank you for reading. I hope you have enjoyed this post, and that this has been interesting for you.
What have you enjoyed about February? What do you think of my highlights? What do you think of my favourite blog posts? Do you have any favourites to recommend? Let me know by commenting.
That's it for today then, I have lots of ideas for this month though, so keep coming back to see what's going on.

Have a fabulously lovely day!

All You Need Is Love... - Valentines Day 2014

Hi!!!

Today is Valentines Day. Its a funny one, is Valentines Day. You either love it or loathe it. I feel like most people just need perspective on Valentines Day, because no matter what your situation, you can enjoy it.

As I mentioned in (THIS) post, Valentines Day is not just about couples. Valentines Day is a day for showing the people/things/animals you care about love and providing a little bit o happiness for them.

Another thing which I think bugs people is that it can be "too cheesy". I do agree that some people go so overboard it can make you feel nauseous, but whether it is a big showy display of affection or a candle on the dinner table, it can be incredibly sweet.
For me, personally, it is about doing something extra special to *remind* people you love them. It shouldn't be a day where you *prove it* to someone.

I like Valentines Day because I am happy in the knowledge that I love a lot of things in this world, and I can reflect on them as I chose. Its also a pretty sweet day to be a rom com, which we all know I love (side note, Happy Valentines Day Mr Richard Curtis, creator of the films which I love the most! and also being a bloomin good egg all round.)

To all you beautiful people reading this, Happy Valentines Day. I hope you have/have had a wonderful day and that you have enjoyed yourself. I love you all very, very much and you do not understand how much every page view, comment and follow means to me - whether I know you personally or not.
Friends, family, blog readers and everything else in between, I love you and thanks for your support. xxx

I hope you have enjoyed this blog post, and that it has brought some happiness into your day. I love you all.
Have you had a good day? What do you think of Valentines Day? Do you have anything else you would like to say? Let me know in the comments.

Have a LOVE-ly day,

I've Been Thinking... - Things That I Love... LOTS.

Hi!!!

So, for those of you who have been living under a rock/don't celebrate it, it's Valentines Day on Friday. Now, I know that some people love it, and some people hate it but I guess you are going to have to accept it.

I personally like Valentines Day. I spend it with family and friends. To me, it is some time spent with friends, and a meal with family before one of my beloved rom-com's in my pyjamas.
I don't think people should dwell on "couple status" when it is a day based upon love and love comes in many different ways (e.g family, friends, pets, shoes, handbags, food, coffee in the morning... whatever takes your fancy).
All love should be celebrated as far as I am concerned (even if it means putting a party hat on a kitten... that made more sense in my head... I'm so sorry...).

Therefore, to show how love can mean many a different thing, I have compiled a list of some things I LOVE... LOTS.

Films I LOVE...

My favourite film of all is About Time.
I cannot even put into words how much I LOVE it. It feels like it was made just for me - it wasn't, obviously, but hey. It could not be more perfect - in my eyes. I LOVE IT!

To see more films I LOVE, head on over to my Blogger Profile.

Music I LOVE...

The artists I LOVE includes Van Morrison, Elbow, and Jake Bugg.

If you want to talk about the songs that I LOVE, then let me know in the comments and I can chat to you there, or update the post. It's no bother, I would LOVE to.

Models I LOVE...

I LOVE models like Lily Cole, Georgia May Jagger and Kate Moss and LOVE their work and creativity.
I LOVE quite a few other models, but will discuss them in my upcoming additions to the "It's So In Vogue!" series.

Places I LOVE...

To name but a few places I LOVE - Northern Ireland, the area I live in, London, St Albans/Watford, Leamington Spa, Leeds, York, Barcelona....

I could go on about the places which I LOVE all day, but I wouldn't want to bore you. If you want to I would LOVE a conversation in the comments about it!

Blogs I LOVE...

In no particular order... A Rosie Outlook (HERE), Charlottes Web (HERE), The London Project (HERE), Little Winter (HERE), Chronicles Of The Red Herring (HERE), I Get The Feeling (HERE) and Zero Reality (HERE).

People I LOVE...

I LOVE my amazing family.
I LOVE my wonderful friends.
I LOVE all the people who inspire me, whether it is through music, fashion, art, books, anything, and are all round good eggs.
I LOVE all of the people who read this blog, who hopefully LOVE it and who have supported me - whether you have read from June 2013 or 5 minutes ago.

So, just a short post today. I probably could have gotten through many a category, however I think "short and sweet" was a good approach for today. I just wanted to remind people to focus on the little things that matter to them in this week of love and stuff.
What do you love? Did you enjoy this post? Let me know in the comments.
And, that, as they say is a wrap...

Have a marvellous day...
