Do Re Mi Fa So La Ti Do! - Music - Some Of My Favourite Tracks That You Should Play This Week.

Hi!!!

Ah, Sunday. It's a wonderful day of the week, isn't it? I love it - the family time or time with friends, the relaxed schedule for the day, all of it. Sunday is also often the day when people plan for the upcoming week and so I thought I'd help you plan your listening for this week - there's some right gooduns and they all go together wonderfully.

'The Importance of Being Idle' by Oasis because... it is an amazing track with that classic Oasis sound, mixed with an older style, and cool lyrics.

'Love, Hope and Misery' by Jake Bugg because... it has vintage vibes, skilful guitar playing and great lyrics - it has both delicacy and power.

'Snap Out Of It' by The Arctic Monkeys because... it's catchy and has those instantly recognisable riffs that the album AM was full of.

'Champagne Supernova' by Oasis because... it's a classic - it has catchy yet clever lyrics and each of the instruments the band used can be picked out.

'Bitter Salt' by Jake Bugg because... this is the latest release off the album 'On My One', and I like it - listen to it once, then again straight after, and you'll see my point.

'This Time Tomorrow' by The Kinks because... it is probably my favourite song by The Kinks in that I love the lyrics and the music is simple yet good.

And that is your recommended listening for this week (and for all of time, haha) - I hope you enjoy the songs, they are some of my all time favourites and I think this bunch all go well together.
What have you been listening to recently? Do you love these six songs as much as I do? Do you have any other comments or suggestions for future posts? Let me know in the comments.
Thank you for reading!

I hope your day is beautiful!

Do Re Mi Fa So La Ti Do! - Music - Meet My New Guitar.

Hi!!!

This is a slightly different music post than normal but one I'm excited to share with you all. It features one of my birthday presents from my parents, which I've always wanted (but only recently actually asked for!).

Meet my beautiful new guitar. It's an acoustic guitar from Lindo.

It's mahogany with pale green artwork - it's basically my dream design for a guitar. I've been learning and practising for the past few weeks and I'm really enjoying it. It came with a canvas case which is super handy and my parents told me that they were super duper impressed with the company's customer service (friendly and helpful is always good).

I haven't played an instrument in a few years - I used to play violin. The two instruments I have always wanted to play are violin and guitar, so I'm doing pretty well in terms of life goals.

I am so, so excited that I now have a guitar and I'm already loving playing so much. I'm very thankful to my parents for buying it for me for my birthday, it is a really special gift.

So, there you go. A little musical life update from me.
Do you play an instrument? Do you like my guitar? Do you have any suggestions for future posts? Just fancy a chat? Talk to me in the comments.
Thanks for reading, have a great day.

I hope your day is pitch perfect.

I've Been Thinking... - Why Summer Is Great!

Hi!!!

As I'm sure we all know, it's now summer time (cue confetti cannons and crowds cheering). I love the seasons we get to experience and so I wanted to write a few words down in honour of it all.

Summer is a great time. I love so many things about it.
The ease of shorts, vests, sandals and dresses without thick tights. The way fairy lights sparkle in the garden after barbeques and parties. The fact that cream soda floats and pink lemonade are now staples in the diet. The fact that you can blast music in the garden and dance around like you're in some indie music video without judgement. The way that all these opportunities to do cool stuff open up like outdoor theatre, evenings with friends, trips to the beach and trips abroad. The fact that you spend less time in front of computer screens and TV, because there are so many other things to do. The way you feel when you look outside and see a clear blue sky and bright sunshine in the morning.

Spend this time well, guys, and make some amazing memories - it's as good a time as ever.

Thank you for reading, you lovely person.
What are your favourite things about summer? What things do you love doing? Do you have any comments or suggestions for future posts? Talk to me in the comments below.
I hope you are having an awesome day.

I hope your day is full of sunshine.

Makeup Your Mind - Makeup and Beauty Inspiration and Tips - An Ode To My Rouge Coco Shine.

Hi!!!

Bonjour, how are you? Good, I hope. I want to talk makeup today, so lets begin.

This lovely lippy is from Chanel. It is a Rouge Coco Shine in the shade Boy (number 54) and I love it. The formula is absolutely divine and it certainly feels high end. I'm told by the Selfridges site that it contains jojoba, sunflower and mimosa waxes, which is probably why it is such a hydration, comfortable lipstick.

I really love the colour, too, its perfect for creating a soft, more natural look with an added glamour which makes it well suited to special occasions. The shades are all named after some of the most important people in Chanel's life, which is a nice touch.

The packaging is obvs stunning, too. It's just such an elegant lipstick in terms of colour, formula, packaging (and brand, but maybe that's a superficial thing to say...) and I adore it. I know it's pricey, but it is one to put on your birthday wishlist, gal pals (that's how I got mine).

Thank you for joining me today. I hope you've enjoyed this and that I might have helped you discover a new beauty favourite - I'm always happy to be the instigator for your beauty buys.
What are your favourite beauty products? Have you tried any Chanel products? What did you think? Got any comments or suggestions for future posts? Let me know in the comments.
Enjoy the rest of your Tuesday!

I hope your day is full of fun!

Do Re Mi Fa So La Ti Do - Music - Some Songs I Love That You Should Check Out.

Hi!!!

I haven't posted much this month and so I thought that it would be a nice idea to share some more songs that I love with you. This isn't really a 'songs that have been stuck in my head' kind of post but rather a little list of some that I think you might like to check out.

'She's Electric' by Oasis (HERE)

I love Oasis with my heart and my soul - I feel like music really struck gold when they showed up. She's Electric is, I often find, one of their 'underrated' or 'lesser-known' tracks but I just love it. As always, sublime, interesting, dynamic, memorable and anthem-ic music and lyrics. #OASISFORLIFE

'On My One' by Jake Bugg (HERE)

We all know that I think everything Jake Bugg does is utterly amazing and this, his first piece of brand new music in a few years (it doesn't feel like that long, mind you) is no exception. I love the emotion in this, I love the way it showcases his vocals, I love the lyrics, I love the guitar. Listen to it. Now.

'Bittersweet Symphony' by The Verve (HERE)

What a classic. This song is just absolutely amazing. I love violins and classical instruments so I love the use of those throughout and the lyrics are so interesting, thought provoking and meaningful. This is one that'll stay with you. Love.

Same Jeans by The View (HERE)

This one is super catchy, so don't blame me when in three weeks time you're still singing it in your head at the bus stop. It's also pretty good for bopping about to, so there's that. I really like the music and the lyrics - its quite fun but not entirely meaningless which is great.

'Full Circle' by Half Moon Run (HERE)

I love this song for so many reasons. It's chilled out and yet it's dynamic and interesting. This song is one that will make you think a little bit. This was the first song by Half Moon Run that I listened to and I must say, I'm as impressed now by this as I was back then.

'The Sound' by The 1975 (HERE)

The 1975 are back with some new music and I like it lots. I think Matty Healy's voice is really cool and it adds an extra dimension to their music. It's catchy, it's one you can dance to and the lyrics are cool. (Also, I love the video for this).

That's your lot for today. I hope you enjoyed this and that you check out my recommendations.
What are your favourite songs? Do you like my recommendations? What songs, bands and singers shall I check out? Do you have any comments or suggestions for future posts? Be sure to tell me in the comments.
Thanks for reading, I hope March has been a lovely month for you.

I hope your day is epic!

Makeup Your Mind - Makeup and Beauty Inspiration and Tips - My (Current) MAC Lipstick Collection

Hi!!!

I'm a huge makeup lover. This isn't news, but it is certainly true. I am a massive fan of lipsticks, especially colourful ones, and I have a lovely little collection of MAC lipsticks in my makeup bag. I really enjoy posts like these and thought that you guys might like to see my carefully selected MAC lipstick collection today.

My MAC Lipstick Collection (February 2016)

Ladybug (HERE).

Ladybug was the first MAC lipstick that I've ever owned and I am still as in love with it now as I was when I first took it out of its box. It is a gorgeous true red shade that I love wearing - it's deffo my favourite red lipstick. It's a 'Lustre' texture that I find really comfortable to wear and that I think looks really lovely. It makes me feel glamorous and special and I love it.

Show Orchid (HERE).

I got Show Orchid first as a Christmas present a year or so ago. It is a beautiful, very bright, fuchsia pink shade. It is an 'Amplified Creme' texture that is once again comfortable to wear. I love it for parties - its such a fun, sassy shade. Love.

Violetta (HERE)

Violetta is the newest edition to my collection - it was a 2015 Christmas present - but I'd had my eye on it for ages. It's a really unique violet purple shade in an 'Amplified' texture (which as with all in the collection sits comfortably on the lips). I think it's a really cool colour. I love this.

Thanks for reading, everyone. I love my MAC lipstick collection and had a lot of fun putting this together, so I hope you enjoyed this post.
What is your favourite lipstick? Do you own any MAC lipsticks? What do you think of my little collection? Do you have any other comments or maybe some suggestions for future posts? Be sure to let me know in the comments.
I'll see you all soon, guys.

Have the most wonderfully brilliant day!

I've Been Thinking... - The Comedy Box Sets You Need In Your Life.

Hi!!!

I am a massive comedy fan, be it stand up, movies, sitcoms or anything of that sort. Over the years, I've watched many a sitcom/comedy box set and I've certainly been more impressed by some than others. With that in mind, I thought that I'd share my carefully curated favourites list with you today. Some of the shows have finished and so you can watch them all at once if you wish, while others are ongoing and so you can catch up before any new series.

The Comedy Box Sets You Need In Your Life.

Father Ted. I have no words to express how brilliant Father Ted is and how much I love it. It is honestly so hilarious and one that I always go back to. It follows three priests from Craggy Island - Ted, Dougal and Jack - and their housekeeper Mrs Doyle and their ridiculously funny exploits in life including a rather interesting trip to a department store, an attempt at a caravan holiday, a very intense ride on a milkman's van and a marvellous 'Eurosong' entry. This show is life.

The IT Crowd. Another Channel 4 favourite. I absolutely love The IT Crowd. Moss, Roy and Jen work in the IT department of Reynholm Industries and on the show we see their antics both at work and outside of work, which are always ridiculously funny. 'Countdown', football, social media and trips to the theatre (I cry laughed at that one in particular) are all under fire. It's one for the geeks - it's clever, it's relatable and it's riotous. Love.

Modern Family. The show revolves around Jay and Gloria, Claire and Phil, Mitch and Cam and all of their children - Hayley, Alex, Luke, Manny, Lily and Joe. The show is stellar - it's super funny, it's relatable and it makes my heart happy. From taking Halloween hilariously seriously to raising ducklings to family photo-shoots gone wrong, Modern Family provides the perfect mix of belly laughs, craziness and truly heart-warming moments.

The Big Bang Theory. This show has become a bit of a pop culture icon, and it's easy to see why. Leonard, Howard, Sheldon and Raj are all massive nerds and they and their neighbour Penny (who is about as far from a nerd as you can get) experience all of the crazy moments of life together. It's smart, massively entertaining and, of course, totally hilarious. Science, paintball, The Cheesecake Factory and comic books are all regular features of this gem.

How I Met Your Mother. Ted is a bit of a hopeless romantic and the show follows him and his friends Marshall, Lily, Barney and Robin, and the story of how he met the love of his life and the mother of his children - it involves a marathon attempt gone wrong, games of laser tag and *that* yellow umbrella. Full of laugh out loud moments, little life lessons, charming moments and the happy things that make up life, How I Met Your Mother is a stroke of brilliance.

Miranda. I think this show is completely hilarious - I've loved it for years. Miranda runs a shop with her best friend Stevie, is hopelessly in love with her friend Gary, has a mother who is constantly trying to marry her off, and is trying to navigate her way through grown up life. I love this show and whether it be going to the gym, booking a not-so-far-away holiday or going for lunch with school friends, this show is full of belly laugh moments. (Apparently, Elf Girl and I are like Stevie and Miranda...)

Not Going Out. Flatmates Lee and Lucy and Lucy's brother Tim make for a fab trio in this series (although Tim doesn't appear in the later series and Lucy isn't in the first). Their antics and mishaps make for very funny viewing, whether they be having a go at Battle of the Bands competitions (despite their questionable talents), getting stuck in ski lifts or trying their hand at am-dram, the mundane and the ordinary become the extreme and the hilarious in this cracker of a comedy.

Gavin and Stacey. One of my all time favourite shows ever, ever, ever. Lovebirds Gavin and Stacey and their legends of friends and family are the subjects of this one. Whether it be a big old family Christmas (I can quote that episode backwards), ordering takeaways, going to foam parties or crossing the M6 toll bridge, this show will bring side-splitting comedy in absolute spades. I'm forever referencing it and I always love watching it (I've even been to Marco's in Barry). Big love.

Thank you for reading this, I hope that I've given you some inspiration for what to curl up and watch on these chilly February evenings.
What are your favourite comedy box sets? Have you seen any of mine? Which do you think you might like to watch next? Do you have any comments or suggestions for future posts? Let me know in the comments below.
I'll speak to you all soon, I hope your week is off to a good start.

I hope your day is filled with happiness and laughter!

I've Been Thinking... - Frankie, Tommy, Bob and Nick.

Hi!!!

We all know I love the 1960s - the music, the fashion, the everything, basically. I have always absolutely loved 60s music and one group I have loved for as long as I can remember would be The Four Seasons. Naturally, when the movie 'Jersey Boys' came out a while back, I knew I had to see it. I finally got round to watching it recently and I'd like to share my thoughts.

'Jersey Boys'.

I am so, so in love with this movie.
I think that it is amazingly filmed and directed which produces a wonderful effect overall. I think the cast are excellent, worked really well together and who played their roles exceptionally. Obviously, the soundtrack features the legendary music of The Four Seasons and it is beautifully worked in with the movie. The sets, costumes and makeup (the last is particularly key as the band get older throughout the movie) are nothing short of brilliant.
The key with biopic movies or plays for me (and this is both, though I am yet to see this on stage) is 'doing them justice'. In my eyes, this movie does do the music, personalities and legendary status of Frankie, Tommy, Bob and Nick.
It's emotional, it's captivating, it's creative. I love it.
If you love the 60s, if you love music, if you love biopics, if you love The Four Seasons, if you love movies - you need to go watch this movie.

I hope you enjoyed this - I do love sharing things I love with you guys, and I love this film.
Have you seen the film? Have you seen Jersey Boys on stage? What is your favourite song by The Four Seasons? Maybe you have a favourite of Frankie's solo records? Let me know in the comments.
Thanks for reading, I hope you're having a lovely day.

I hope your day is epic.

I've Been Thinking... - Oxfords Not Brogues.

Hi!!!

Today, its quite a short and sweet post but I just wanted to write something and figured that this might be a nice little post for my fellow movie lovers. If you're looking for something to watch when you get home today then I have a suggestion.

Kingsman: The Secret Service.

Kingsman: The Secret Service is one of the best films I have seen in a really long time. It just has all of the best things wrapped up in one. It's hilarious, it's about spies, it features amazing actors, the plot is fantastic, it has a great soundtrack, the characters are literally amazing (Eggsy may be one of my favourite characters ever and all of the others are crazy awesome too), it's brilliantly filmed - I basically cannot say enough good things about this film. Like, seriously, just go and watch it. Promise? Good. Thank me later.

Watch the trailer (HERE).

(it is a spy movie, so there is some violence in the trailer, just to warn you if you feel sensitive to that...)

Thanks for reading - I know this was a short post but hopefully you enjoyed it and maybe discovered a new favourite film, like I have.
Have you seen Kingsman? What are your favourite films? Do you have any comments or suggestions for future posts? Let me know in the comments section.
I'll see you soon.

Have an amazing day! (And remember, oxfords not brogues)
