Do Re Mi Fa So La Ti Do - Music - New Music Picks.

Hi!!!

Good afternoon, lovely people. Today I have some new music to share with you. Most of the songs in this post are so new that they have only been released in the last week or so making them hot off the press tracks. There's everything from slow melodic songs to upbeat bops so hopefully you'll find something you like amongst this lot - I certainly like them all a lot.

Nobody Gets What They Want Anymore by Marlon Williams (with Aldous Harding)

This song is melodic with a vintage, 1950s and 1960s feel to it. The melancholic lyrics pair wonderfully with the soft, rounded vocals, delicate harmonies which provide an air of vulnerability. It also reminds me of those indie movies and short films that have incredible soundtracks as well as great characters and beautiful videography - I'm not sure if that makes much sense to anyone other than me, but if you understand what I mean, then yes, it's that. It is a gorgeous piece and I have decided its compulsory listening for November.

Lemon To A Knife Fight by The Wombats

The newest release from The Wombats has all of the key components of the band's signature sound but a more mature, perhaps slightly more restrained, finish compared to their previous work. The vocals and lyrics are almost conversational and combine realism with quirky wording in a show of how their signature style has developed and improved over the years. I found that musically it reminded me of older tracks like Moving to New York in places, but with a less brash sound and a more dance around than jump around quality. I'm excited to hear what their upcoming new releases are like because this is certainly very promising.

Alright by The Magic Gang

You may remember that back in August I mentioned The Magic Gang to you - in this post - and since then I have been listening to and enjoying more and more of their music. They have become one of my favourite bands of 2017 and 'Alright' is a perfect example of why. This song is rooted in indie rock with electric guitars and layered harmonies ready to elevate the piece. The lyrics are catchy and the overall effect of the music, lyrics and vocals is a cool and unique sound which I cannot stop listening to.

That brings me to the end of this post. I hope you enjoyed reading it and I hope you enjoy listening to these songs this week.
Which is your favourite? Do you have any other comments or perhaps suggestions for future posts? Leave a comment and let me know.
Thanks for reading!

I hope you're having a fantastic day!

Do Re Mi Fa So La Ti Do - Music - Let's Discuss People's Obession With Owning Music (And Bands And Singers).

Hi!!!

How are things, guys? I hope you're all having a nice week. I've had the idea to write a post like this one for ages but today I found a little spark of inspiration to sit down and type this (always a nice feeling). So, without further ado, let's talk about people, music and their ideas of ownership.

The little spark of inspiration came from scrolling through the comments on a YouTube video. I like to consume my music in various ways - I like listening to CDs and I like watching music videos, sometimes on MTV, and sometimes, when I want to listen to something particular or new, I like using YouTube. The majority of the videos in my YouTube history and recomendations are music related.

Today I clicked onto Sam Tsui's channel - if you're not subscribed then oh my goodness, go and listen to his amazing mashups please - and saw a cover of 'Stressed Out' by Twenty One Pilots. I decided to watch it because I really like Twenty One Pilots and I love Sam's covers. And, as I often do, I had a little scroll through the comments while I was listening.

It was in the comments sections that I saw things like, and I am paraphrasing here, "It's weird that this song has become mainstream" and "I miss when I could say Twenty One Pilots and no one knew who they were". This kind of thing bothers me.
I understand it, I really do. As someone who listens to and loves indie music and as someone who likes to hunt out new bands and music, I understand that sense of "wait, what?" when you first hear some of those acts being played on the radio. But my "wait, what?" is out of excitement. I want the bands and singers that I love to be able to continue making music and that is made a whole lot easier by more radio play. When I listen to things, especially new bands, its likely that I'll share their songs with at least one person, but if it don't then that isn't because I want to hold an exclusive listening right to them. It's because I listen to a lot of music and I might forget or I mightn't know anyone that I think would particularly love it.

However, it isn't necessarily those people or those comments that bother me, so much as the comments such as, and I quote, "...they're not ours anymore...". Excuse me, what? They were never yours. But I find this happens all the time. People think that because they own the albums, know the words to the songs, maybe because they've seen a gig or two, that the music and the artist is theirs. What people seem to fail to grasp, is that they own the songs and the CDs and the gig tickets and the merchandise. They don't own the people. They might feel connected to their favourite musicians - I certainly do - but that doesn't mean that they are yours and yours alone to keep in a little bubble of 'lesser-known-ness'.
These people are ultimately trying to make a living. They love what they do and they love the people that support them and they are lucky to have such great opportunities but they have bills to pay. They want to be able, as I think many of us do, to be able to make a career out of what they love doing and you can't make a career if your fans are trapping you inside a little bubble of 'lesser-known-ness'.

I remember when The Arctic Monkeys released 'AM' a few years ago and people kept telling me how long they'd been listening to The Arctic Monkeys and how they had specifically been the ones to get me into their music and so on and so forth. Some people treated the new album and the band like a book they were letting me borrow - like it was theirs and they'd want it back when I was done, like they'd have bought the sequel before me. Here's the thing though, I'm a huge Arctics fan, I like so many of their songs. I'm an Alex Turner fan, for that matter - his soundtrack for Submarine was just incredible. But they are not 'my' band as they are not anyone's band, no matter how they feel about it, and I wouldn't want it to be like that.

A song by Circa Waves was featured in a TV advert last year. I think it was 'My Love' but I only saw it a few times so I couldn't be sure. And when I first saw it, I was a felt a little bit weird - but not because 'my music' was going to end up in the 'mainstream', just because I wanted more for them than advert music. That's a different thing.

I love feeling like I'm in on the start of something great or I'm in a little club of people who also own all three albums and dance around their house to the songs I like best. But at the same time, I like to see artists grow. I like the micro-communities that bands and singers are capable of forming. And most of all, I'm in it for the music. It doesn't matter to me whether things are cool or mainstream or new or old. It matters to me that I enjoy the songs, that the guitars are played well, that the violins are in tune and that whoever is singing has a voice I love.

And with that, I'm off to listen to some Van Morrison. And you can too, if you so wish, I don't mind sharing.

Thank you for reading this post, I know its a bit different but hopefully you enjoyed it.
What are your thoughts on this? Do you agree with me or do you think I'm way off base? Do you have any music recomendations for me? Lets all discuss this stuff in the comments below.
Speak soon, my lovelies.

Go forth and listen to your favourite songs!

Do Re Mi Fa So La Ti Do! - Music - Some Of My Favourite Tracks That You Should Play This Week.

Hi!!!

Ah, Sunday. It's a wonderful day of the week, isn't it? I love it - the family time or time with friends, the relaxed schedule for the day, all of it. Sunday is also often the day when people plan for the upcoming week and so I thought I'd help you plan your listening for this week - there's some right gooduns and they all go together wonderfully.

'The Importance of Being Idle' by Oasis because... it is an amazing track with that classic Oasis sound, mixed with an older style, and cool lyrics.

'Love, Hope and Misery' by Jake Bugg because... it has vintage vibes, skilful guitar playing and great lyrics - it has both delicacy and power.

'Snap Out Of It' by The Arctic Monkeys because... it's catchy and has those instantly recognisable riffs that the album AM was full of.

'Champagne Supernova' by Oasis because... it's a classic - it has catchy yet clever lyrics and each of the instruments the band used can be picked out.

'Bitter Salt' by Jake Bugg because... this is the latest release off the album 'On My One', and I like it - listen to it once, then again straight after, and you'll see my point.

'This Time Tomorrow' by The Kinks because... it is probably my favourite song by The Kinks in that I love the lyrics and the music is simple yet good.

And that is your recommended listening for this week (and for all of time, haha) - I hope you enjoy the songs, they are some of my all time favourites and I think this bunch all go well together.
What have you been listening to recently? Do you love these six songs as much as I do? Do you have any other comments or suggestions for future posts? Let me know in the comments.
Thank you for reading!

I hope your day is beautiful!

Do Re Mi Fa So La Ti Do! - Music - Meet My New Guitar.

Hi!!!

This is a slightly different music post than normal but one I'm excited to share with you all. It features one of my birthday presents from my parents, which I've always wanted (but only recently actually asked for!).

Meet my beautiful new guitar. It's an acoustic guitar from Lindo.

It's mahogany with pale green artwork - it's basically my dream design for a guitar. I've been learning and practising for the past few weeks and I'm really enjoying it. It came with a canvas case which is super handy and my parents told me that they were super duper impressed with the company's customer service (friendly and helpful is always good).

I haven't played an instrument in a few years - I used to play violin. The two instruments I have always wanted to play are violin and guitar, so I'm doing pretty well in terms of life goals.

I am so, so excited that I now have a guitar and I'm already loving playing so much. I'm very thankful to my parents for buying it for me for my birthday, it is a really special gift.

So, there you go. A little musical life update from me.
Do you play an instrument? Do you like my guitar? Do you have any suggestions for future posts? Just fancy a chat? Talk to me in the comments.
Thanks for reading, have a great day.

I hope your day is pitch perfect.

Do Re Mi Fa So La Ti Do! - Music - On My One by Jake Bugg Review.

Hi!!!

¡Hola! How've you been? Good, I hope. I have an album review for you today - I've only written one before, but this one will be very different from that one in terms of format and the like. I've been awaiting the release of this album since its release date was announced so I'm going to tell you my views on it.

'On My One', Jake Bugg's third studio album, was released on 17th June 2016 and is entirely written by Jake. The title comes from the first song on the album which in turn comes from a Midlands phrase (represent!) which essentially means "on my own", as I'm sure many of you know, and there is certainly a sense of loneliness running through a lot of the songs in the collection.

Jake is known for his unique vocals - I can't really think of an artist that sounds anything like him that is making music now - which really sets all of his work apart from the crowd. He is also known for his use of guitars in his songs, so definitely one for my fellow guitar fans.

My top five standout tracks are 'All That', which is full of beautiful raw emotion,  'Love, Hope and Misery', which is musically (and lyrically) outstanding, 'Gimme The Love', a unique rap track, 'The Love We're Hoping For', a stunning and meaningful piece, and 'Never Wanna Dance', a delicate, simple song. It's hard to choose favourites actually, but I suppose that means there is something to suit all tastes.

I know some people have mixed feelings about the rap elements of the album like 'Gimme The Love' and 'Ain't No Rhyme', but I am personally a fan. It is certainly different but it's really good to see artistic development, especially when it comes in the form of sometimes Beastie Boys esque rap.

The country-rock tracks are very true to their genre, which I love. 'Livin Up Country', 'Hold On You' and 'Put Out The Fire' are lively, old school tracks which are really awesome. 'On My One' is a really great old school rock ballad which I love, too.

Everyone had put a lot of pressure on this album because it's the first entirely self-written and mostly self-produced album that Jake has done, although I thought that was a bit unfair given his involvement in all of his other albums, but it's certainly an impressive start to going it alone in any case.

Before I give you my final words and star rating, I thought I'd let you know that an acoustic EP is available exclusively at HMV.

It costs £2.99 when bought alone and is free when purchased with the album, which is always a plus as far as I'm concerned.

The EP features three tracks - 'Gimme The Love' and 'The Love We're Hoping For' from the album, and a cover of 'Be The One' (by Dua Lipa). They are all great and are an excellent accompaniment to the album.

Overall, I give it five stars. I'm really impressed with all the songs and the cohesion between the collection, I like the experimental side of the album and I have found some new favourites. I think 'On My One' speaks volumes for Jake's talent and his growth as an artist and I'd recommend it to you.

Ta Dah! First album review in two years done! I hope you enjoyed it.
Did you enjoy this new style of album review? Have you listened to 'On My One'? What did you think? Do you have any album recommendations? Any other comments or suggestions for future posts? Let me know in the comments.
Thanks for reading. See you soon.

Have an epic day!

Do Re Mi Fa So La Ti Do - Music - My Current Top 40 Faves.

Hi!!!

What's up, guys? I don't know about you, but I find that I listen to the radio a lot in the summer as I spend more time in the car, around the house, at barbeques and things like that. I thought I'd put together a little selection of my faves from this week's Top 40 for you to listen out for on the radio or just enjoy now because an eclectic playlist is more fun and if it meets my standards, hopefully you'll like it, too.

THIS SONG THO. I really love it - it has really chilled 90s vibes that blend seamlessly with fun electronic dance vibes and it works so well. It has a really interesting sound and I feel like I notice new things about it each time I hear it.

If you've been on the lookout for your ultimate fun summer jam for 2016 then you can stop looking - THIS IS IT. It is guaranteed to bring a smile to your face and it's definitely one to dance to. The video is super fun, and JT breaks out all the best dance moves, too.

I think Sia is an incredibly talented songwriter and vocalist and this track is great. It is more upbeat lyrically than some of her others but its still unique. Also, Maddie Ziegler smashed that choreography in the video, as per.

When I heard the first lines of this for the first time, I'll be honest, I was not feeling it. But actually, I've come to really like this song, both the original and the remix which is linked here as it is the one in the charts. It comes across as meaningful and honest and I love that.

I don't normally like vocals like this but I think it really suits the song and it is super fun and sassy. It's definitely a great one for those 'windows down, singing along' moments in the car and I love that it doesn't take itself to seriously.

Ta Dah! That's all for today, so I hope you enjoyed and you think I've pointed you in the right direction for some good summer tunes.
What are your current favourites from the charts? Which songs do you think deserve to be in the charts that aren't? Do you have any suggestions for future posts? Let me know in the comments and I'll get back to you.
Thank you for reading. Have a good evening and if you're in the UK and you're registered, be sure to go out and vote.

Have an awesome day!

Do Re Mi Fa So La Ti Do - Music - Some Songs I Love That You Should Check Out.

Hi!!!

I haven't posted much this month and so I thought that it would be a nice idea to share some more songs that I love with you. This isn't really a 'songs that have been stuck in my head' kind of post but rather a little list of some that I think you might like to check out.

'She's Electric' by Oasis (HERE)

I love Oasis with my heart and my soul - I feel like music really struck gold when they showed up. She's Electric is, I often find, one of their 'underrated' or 'lesser-known' tracks but I just love it. As always, sublime, interesting, dynamic, memorable and anthem-ic music and lyrics. #OASISFORLIFE

'On My One' by Jake Bugg (HERE)

We all know that I think everything Jake Bugg does is utterly amazing and this, his first piece of brand new music in a few years (it doesn't feel like that long, mind you) is no exception. I love the emotion in this, I love the way it showcases his vocals, I love the lyrics, I love the guitar. Listen to it. Now.

'Bittersweet Symphony' by The Verve (HERE)

What a classic. This song is just absolutely amazing. I love violins and classical instruments so I love the use of those throughout and the lyrics are so interesting, thought provoking and meaningful. This is one that'll stay with you. Love.

Same Jeans by The View (HERE)

This one is super catchy, so don't blame me when in three weeks time you're still singing it in your head at the bus stop. It's also pretty good for bopping about to, so there's that. I really like the music and the lyrics - its quite fun but not entirely meaningless which is great.

'Full Circle' by Half Moon Run (HERE)

I love this song for so many reasons. It's chilled out and yet it's dynamic and interesting. This song is one that will make you think a little bit. This was the first song by Half Moon Run that I listened to and I must say, I'm as impressed now by this as I was back then.

'The Sound' by The 1975 (HERE)

The 1975 are back with some new music and I like it lots. I think Matty Healy's voice is really cool and it adds an extra dimension to their music. It's catchy, it's one you can dance to and the lyrics are cool. (Also, I love the video for this).

That's your lot for today. I hope you enjoyed this and that you check out my recommendations.
What are your favourite songs? Do you like my recommendations? What songs, bands and singers shall I check out? Do you have any comments or suggestions for future posts? Be sure to tell me in the comments.
Thanks for reading, I hope March has been a lovely month for you.

I hope your day is epic!

Do Re Mi Fa So La Ti Do! - Music - Let's Talk About... - Circa Waves.

Hi!!!

Oh, hey there! Happy October! So, I'm a big ol' music lover - as I am sure you know by now - and a something that always makes me happy are my newest musical discoveries. Sometimes they are artists that are just starting out, sometimes they are artists that I cannot believe I didn't know about before and have several albums to explore, sometimes they are current, sometimes from decades ago. Anyway, today I want to share a discovery I made a quite a few months ago now and that I am delighted I found.

Let's Talk About Circa Waves.

Circa Waves are relatively new (indie) kids on the block. They are a band from Liverpool with an incredibly cool sound.
They have that awesome indie disco thing going for them which means that their songs have the versatility to be danced to or to be sat and listened to which is always good.
If you are into fantastic, upbeat, guitar-heavy songs with a great music and lyrics (and who isn't?) and fancy listening to something new then I would highly recommend giving Circa Waves a listen.
Four of my favourite songs by Circa Waves:
Three reasons to love Circa Waves:
  • Their fantastic music and lyrics which make up their unique sound.
  • I could honestly get lost in their songs and listen to them for ages which is always a good sign.
  • The aesthetic of their music videos - might sound a bit odd, but for me, it can be make or break and in this case, it makes it.
Two of things I would like:
  • Their debut album, "Young Chasers", in actual CD form (FIND IT HERE)
  • Tickets to their upcoming tour - who wants to join me? (FIND IT HERE)

One of my favourite interviews related to Circa Waves:
  • This is one of the only ones I could find - Vevo Dscvr (WATCH IT HERE)
That is all I have to say to you today then, you lovely lot. I hope that you have enjoyed this and that maybe you've discovered something new through this post.
Are you a Circa Waves fan? Or have I brought them to your attention? What do you think of their music? Would you like to see more "Let's Talk About" posts? Any comments or suggestions for things in the future? Be sure to let me know in the comments below.
Thanks for reading, I'll see you soon!

Have the most fantastically brilliant day!

Do Re Mi Fa So La Ti Do! - Music - Some Current Favourite Summer Sounds.

    Hi!!!

What's up, guys? I had an absolutely wonderful birthday on Friday and I'm back from my little "birthday break" with today's post. I thought that I'd fill you guys in on some of my favourite songs at the moment - I really enjoy putting posts like this together and hopefully you enjoy reading them!

"T Shirt Weather" by Circa Waves (HERE)

This song has fantastic music and lyrics and an awesome vibe.
I am absolutely in love with it and have been since I first heard it.
It is a great one to dance around to but is equally well suited for a road tripping soundtrack and even just something a bit different to listen to when all you want to do is sit down and listen to some music (as I often do).

    "Stronger" by Clean Bandit (HERE)

    This song is brilliant.
It is a real bop about, lift your mood, sing along with a smile kind of song and whenever I hear it, it puts a big smile on my face.
I really like Clean Bandit and their unique sound and this song does a great job in showing off their musical abilities (violins and cellos? Yes please!) and their fun side.

"Shut Up and Dance" by Walk The Moon (HERE)

I'm fairly sure everyone has been loving this song (even a little bit) lately and it isn't hard to see why in my book.
It's fun, it's catchy, it's a cracking tune with some ace lyrics behind it and I just really, really like it - a lot.
This is definitely one I like to turn up a few notches whenever it comes on - it's a proper summer tune.

And that's your lot for today, folks. Thanks for reading.
What are your favourite songs and new discoveries at the moment? Have you discovered anything new through this post? What do you think of my picks? Do you have any ideas to share or comments or suggestions for future posts? Let me know in the comments below.
I shall see you guys again soon.

    Have a fantastic day today!

Do Re Mi Fa So La Ti Do! - Music - Let's Talk About... - The Kinks.

    Hi!!!

I'm so glad that I'm back in the blogging seat, and I'm going to take advantage of the Bank Holiday weekend and try to write lots. Today, I wanted to do a bit of a spotlight post about The Kinks, because they are great and they have cropped up in my mind a lot lately. So, lets tear and share some thoughts, some favourites and some articles.
This is a whole new kind of post over here, so maybe this can become a series... Let me know what you think!

    Let's Talk About The Kinks.
The Kinks hit the big time back in the 60s (an era which we love, don't we?).
The Kinks were comprised of the Davies brothers, Ray and Dave, as well as Mick Avory and Pete Quaife, a bunch of "misfit" boys from Muswell Hill with a whole load of talent.
The Kinks are one of the most important and influential bands and some of the best musicians ever and I love them.
Four of my favourite songs by The Kinks:
Three reasons to love The Kinks:
    • Their music is iconic, amazing, very influential and will make your ears happy.
    • The personalities of their band members.
    • Their effortless cool.
Two of things I would like:
    • Tickets to go see Sunny Afternoon (FIND IT HERE)
    • A copy of Ray Davies : A Complicated Life, a biography by Johnny Rogan (FIND IT HERE)

One of my favourite interviews related to The Kinks:
That's a wrap! I truly hope that you have enjoyed this post today and found it interesting.
Do you like The Kinks? Have you discovered anything new in this post? Let me know in the comments below?
Enjoy the rest of your day.
Have a completely and totally wonderful day!

Do Re Mi Fa So La Ti Do! - Music - Songs I'm Loving At The Moment.

    Hi!!!

How are all of you wonderful people doing? Good, I hope. Today's post is a musical one about a bunch of songs that I have had stuck in my head recently.
Let's get on with it, shall we?

Scare Away The Dark by Passenger, listen (HERE).

I love Passenger, as I am pretty sure you all know, and Scare Away The Dark is a brilliant song.
This song has a really great message but is still inspiring and light-hearted.
It is unique, cool and a bit of a bold song...
I am always happy to sit and listen to this song because it is class.
    I just love it, OKAY?!?!

Shake It Off by Taylor Swift, listen (HERE).

This is another song that I just love.
It is impossible not to dance from the start of this song to the end of it and if you can manage it then you need to give yourself a talking to.
Its super fun, the lyrics are something you need/want to hear no matter when it comes on, and I think its ace.

I Forget Where We Were by Ben Howard, listen (HERE).

This song is one you could get lost in, if that makes sense.
This is the kind of song that should be played so as it fills an entire room.
It's peaceful, it's pretty, it's poetic, it's current and yet not pop-py or rap-py and its an easy listener.
    It's a bit charming.

Panic Cord by Gabrielle Aplin, listen (HERE).

I have loved this song since the day it was released.
Gabrielle has the most lovely voice and the lyrics are a little bit awesome. It's refreshing to see this kind of topic in a song without it being angry or bitter. It's like thoughts spilling through speakers.
It's catchy but not in annoying way and it sounds so graceful.
    Have a listen.

That's Entertainment by The Jam, listen (HERE).

I am a huge fan of The Jam and Paul Weller and all of the amazing music they produced.
This song has been covered and put in a car advert but the cover - I'm sorry to be the one to say it - let's this song down.
Have a bit of a look through some of the comments (read the replies to the second comment down about the car advert - you'll find it funny and truthful  if you are anything like me but beware, there is a spot of bad language here and there from the commenters...)
One of the greatest songs of all time - you must listen.

I Lived by One Republic, listen (HERE).

I've been enjoying this one on the old Radio recently as it has really cool lyrics, fun music and has a good message.
Its one you'll love to sing along to and one that you might like to bop about to a little bit.
It is a strong song with a really good message and I think its worth a listen on your part as I look forward to hearing it on the radio.
Let me know what you reckon...

There may or may not be a type of post that I repeat this month because I have been enjoying a lot of songs at the moment which I really think you should hear - would we like to see more?
What do you think of these songs? Are any of them new to you? Do you have any suggestions for me to listen to? Do you have any comments or suggestions for future posts? Let me know in the comments below...
I hope you enjoyed this post and that you will join me again for some more posts!

Do Re Mi Fa So La Ti Do! - Music - Some Favourites From This Time Last Year...

    Hi!!!

How are all of you lovely little people? I hope you are all OK and have been having a good week. I wanted to do a music-y post for you today and I've had this idea in mind for quite a while.

This time last year the music I was into was actually of an awesome standard and none of the songs here have ever really let go!

    "Chocolate" by The 1975, (HERE).

I adore the 1975 and I really love the album that this song is on (recommend for all the cool songs). This track was one of, if not the first from the album to be released and it is so good, so catchy and so awesome. Its music and lyrics are great and I just really love this song.

"Do I Wanna Know?" by the Artic Monkeys, (HERE).

The Artic Monkeys are brilliant and when they came out with AM last year I was chuffed. It is a fantastic album which has a really cool sound and this song was the first release from it, and what a good choice it was. This song is a complete beaut and I loves it.

"The Way I Tend To Be" by Frank Turner, (HERE).

This song is an absolute corker. I love this song, the lyrics are great and it is just a lovely listen. I remember playing this on the way to Cornbury Festival last year and singing along at the top of my lungs. It is a really strong summery indie track that I love.

"Let Her Go" by Passenger, (HERE).

Can I just take a minute for this song - I completely adore this. I think Passenger is/are pretty awesome anyway and this song is just so fantastic. It is so beautiful and I loves it very, very muchly. This one is a lovely one and I recommend it for a listen on everyone's part right now. Go on, I'll wait in this tab.

    "Broken" by Jake Bugg, (HERE).

This song is beautiful. I love it such a ridiculous amount. Jake's voice is just beautiful and the music and lyrics of this song are awesome. I highly recommend this for a listen. I really do think this song is wonderful and I wouldn't mind you heading off and listening to this one right now because I probably will too.
I'd also just like to point out that some changes may have happened with music on YouTube between the time I wrote this with the links and whatever time it is that you are reading it because of (THIS) the links might be disrupted. If they are then please just do a quick search yourself. It might be a bit of an inconvenience, so I'm sorry but I can't do a lot about it and respect the choices of the record labels involved.

I loved piecing this post together. I love all of these songs and hold them all in such a high regard in my heart (that is quite possibly the most cheesy thing that I have said but its true). I also hope you enjoyed this post too and if you would like to see more like this then let me know.
What were your favourite songs this time last year? Do you like these songs? Did you like this post? Any suggestions or comments? Let me know the comments.
Speak soon you lovely people. Don't forget that you can follow me on BlogLovin with the little button on the side, if you so wish.

    Have a brilliant day!

Do Re Mi Fa So La Ti Do! - Music - Songs That Are Stuck In My Head.

    Hi!!!

How are you are all today? I haven't posted all week, which I am very sorry for. I have so many posts that I have started up but I just didn't know how to continue. So, I haven't. But today, I decided to do a simple post which I can just write...

You know when you get songs stuck in your head? If you don't, then.... what? Anyway, some are good songs, some are bad songs. Todays selection are good songs, in my opinion, and they will give you a bit more insight into my taste in music.

    Riptide by Vance Joy, (HERE).

This song is addictive, sounds lovely and is a new addition to my endless favourites list. It is such a refreshing change to hear something like this on the radio, as I find dance tracks are always favoured. This is a nice addition to my journey home everyday, & my ears like it muchly lots. I hope you like it too.

    Cannonball by Damien Rice, (HERE).

I grew up with this song at summer barbeques in Northern Ireland, but I was used to a family friend singing it for years. I have listened to the original a million times now, and I have found myself singing it round the house a lot lately. The lyrics & music are amazing. I know some X Factor band did a cover of this years ago, but I really didn't like it, so pay not attention, original all the way!

Best Day Of My Life, by American Authors, (HERE).

I like this song. It has a very uplifting kind of feel, and since it is getting a fair amount of airtime at the moment on the radio and TV, it sticks to you. It all blends really well together and if you sing bits and pieces from this in your head and they don't quite go together it doesn't matter. It is a really good song and I'm pleased that I have stumbled upon it.

She Will Stay Beneath The Moon, by Adam Barnes, (HERE).

This one is a lovely one. I rediscovered this recently and I really like it. Its catchy, the music and lyrics are really cool and I just think it is so peaceful. It is a pleasure to listen to, it really is, and you will find yourself singing along without a care in the world.

Side note: I used to know a kid called Adam Barnes (not this one), and sat next to him in History at school for a year... Its weird.

The Airplane Song, by Scouting For Girls, (HERE).

Another "vintage" beauty here. I love SFG so very, very much and I listened to their first album constantly for pretty much a year when it came out. I played this recently after finding the CD again, as I remembered how good it was, and I wasn't wrong. I have sung this at the top of my voice here, there and everywhere, and I have fallen for this song all over again. I don't believe it was ever released off the album like She's So Lovely etc., so I don't think there is a video. But no matter, take a listen anyway.

That is absolutely all for today. It feels so good to be back in the blogging seat and I hope that you have enjoyed this post.
What songs are in your head today? Do you like any of the songs I have mentioned here? Do you have any suggestions for posts you want to see? Let me know in the comments.
OK then, tis all. Look out for my new posts, you might well see some fresh ideas that I have been thinking about on your screens.

    Have an amazingly good day!

Do Re Mi Fa So La Ti Do! - Music - Album Review - The Seldom Seen Kid by Elbow.

    Hi!!!

In recent weeks, I've considered doing an album review on my blog. Music is something that is a real passion of mine. I am, however, very conscious of the fact that I am not a musician, and am not aware of the right words to use and can only tell you how the music affects me. However, I hope this will work to my advantage and make this more relatable to you as a reader.

I decided to review an album by one of my favourite bands (if not my favourite) so that I'd feel more comfortable with the whole thing. So, here it goes. I will warn you now, this will be a lengthy post.

I'd just like to reiterate what I said previously about me not being a musician, or a musical expert. I do, however, enjoy listening to music and have opinions I would like to share.  I have given my 100% honest views. I am not working with any brands/companies on these reviews nor am I interested. Also, while you are free to share your thoughts in the comments, be respectful of others, and be aware of the work that goes into albums. Ta very muchly.

    The Album.

The Seldom Seen Kid is Elbow's fourth studio album.

    Track List.

    Track One - Starlings.

Track Two - The Bones of You.

    Track Three - Mirrorball.

Track Four - Grounds For Divorce.

Track Five - An Audience With The Pope.

Track Six - Weather To Fly.

Track Seven - The Loneliness Of A Tower Crane Driver.

    Track Eight - The Fix.

    Track Nine - Some Riot.

Track Ten - One Day Like This.

Track Eleven - Friends Of Ours.

    Track Twelve/Bonus Track - We're Away.

    Song by Song Review.

    Track One - Starlings.

The introduction to this song is really unique, with an almost chant like feel. I like the use of interesting instruments during the introduction as well as the vocals and how it leads into beautiful music, which to me, sounds like flight and gracefulness.

The lyrics are clear and beautifully written, with Guy Garvey's voice really guiding the lyrics. The message of this song is beautifully conveyed.

This piece just flows and drifts, and despite the constant change in the music and vocal volume and tempo, it somehow all comes together in a gorgeous way.

I feel like this piece really shows just how exceptionally talented Elbow are as a band, and also as artists.

    I really love this song.

Track Two - The Bones Of You.

This song has a slight folky theme. I really like the simplicity of the music, because it is still so effective. It doesn't overbear, but it doesn't fade away into the background.
The bridge of this song has a nod to rock which I like, as it is like all the emotion of the song has built up to that release.
The music speaks for itself here, and almost resembles the mind, in a strange way.

I really like the lyrics of this song, and the emotion that comes through strongly.
Personally, I find that you can connect with this song instantly and this really appeals to me.

I'd also like to mention the ending of this song. It's faded and simple and lovely. I feel like it adds a really personally touch.

    Track Three - Mirrorball.

Mirrorball is one of my favourite songs, I'd just like to point that out now.

Mirrorball is such a soft, gentle piece.

The lyrics of this song are so, so gorgeous, and Guy Garvey's voice is stunning in this piece. This song is beautiful, and it really stands out for me on this album.

The music is complimentary to everything else in this piece, and completes the song.
This track really showcases the talents of Elbow.

Listen to this and you'll see exactly what I mean.

Track Four - Grounds For Divorce.

I really like this. I think it would be fair to say that this isn't necessarily typical Elbow, but it really works.
On listening to this, I see that this result is what lots of other artists aim for in their work, but I think that, in a way, only Elbow could do this.

The music is modern and yet classic. It has a nods to rock, alternative and indie music all in one, I think.

Lyrics are, as per usual, amazing. The lyrics here are bitter - is that the right word? - and yet are not aggressive and meaningless. How do they do it?

Track Five -  An Audience With The Pope.

Unique, is how I feel I can best describe the actual music of this song.

An Audience With The Pope is really pleasing to the ears. It's relaxed, and feels like an insight into somebody's mind. The lyrics are so great, and I highly enjoy listening to this song.

This song has a laidback, near 1960's style - or at least that's what I can hear. The music here is lovely as are the lyrics, and I think they are a really good pairing.

It fits together well and I don't think it gets enough credit. I like this one a lot.

Track Six - Weather To Fly.

    Gentle, flowing, amazing.

Weather To Fly is just lovely. It is such easy listening, and such a sweet sound.

The lyrics are meaningful and wonderful. They speak in a delicate way to you as a listener and the music is so complimentary.

I feel like Elbow really struck on something here and I think this is one of those hidden gems you find on albums and I'm proud to have found it. To me, its softly conveyed message made it even nicer to listen to, because it could have easily been thrown at my face and it wasn't - it was soothing and well thought out.

    Lovely stuff.

Track Seven - The Loneliness Of A Tower Crane Driver.

Heavy, strong drums begin this and guide it throughout.

This is one of the less known pieces Elbow have crafted and yet it is so emotional, beautiful and incredibly powerful.

The piece finishes with gentle, emotive ascending music.

The lyrics and music is just amazing and I cannot find fault.

I haven't written much for this one, because I don't think I'd say what I want to say about it.

     It is just gorgeous.

    Well done lads.

    Track Eight - The Fix.

The Fix is almost Latin American-y. It's almost Cuban - is that just me?

Rich music, rich vocals, rich lyrics. Gotta love it.
I do quite like this, as it is unusual and different.

This makes my ears happy, and I think that its a lovely piece of work, with lots and lots of layers and depth. It's intriguing and unique.

    Track Nine - Some Riot.

    I really, really like this.

Some Riot is a stunning piece of work. It wouldn't be out of place in a performance i.e theatre or film - and that should only be taken as a compliment and not as anything else.

I really love the way this sounds. I love the sentiment behind this song, and the raw and edgy feel that it has.

It has the ability to transport you to another place in your mind which I find amazing and fascinating.

Music like this reminds me why I listen to music in the first place.

Track Ten - One Day Like This.

I would recognise this song anywhere, and I can pick it out from a mile away.

This song is an anthem, and a king among music. This song matters to so many people, and this is one of my most favourite songs in the world.

The music can only be described as gorgeous.
The lyrics can only be described as sublime.
The vocals can only be described as amazing.
All together, they can only be described as legendary art.

This song can fill me with joy and optimism - no matter what.

This song is one of Elbow's most famous, and rightly so. It is one of the most amazing things, and I love this song to absolute eternity. I cannot recommend you listening to this song enough.

    It is utter perfection.

Track Eleven - Friends Of Ours.

A gem from the album. Its calming, its soothing.

Friends Of Ours is just delightful and a pleasure to listen to. It is a really special piece of music in my eyes and I could listen to it for a long time.

There is something about Friends Of Ours which I can't quite place, but it really makes this piece wonderful.

    Its very, very good stuff.

    Track Twelve/Bonus Track - We're Away.

This song is sounds so sweet and peaceful.

Thank goodness my album has this bonus track, because it is so lovely.

It is the shortest track on the whole album, and yet it is so special, personal, and filled with beauty.

I really do have a soft spot for We're Away, and I do not think it gets nearly enough recognition.

    The Final Notes.

If I had to rate this album between one and five stars, I personally would award it five stars.

It is a work of art and beauty.

I would highly recommend you listen to it, buy it and just in general listen to it, because as far as I am concerned I cannot see you regretting it in any way.

Right then, well I hope you enjoyed this post. You have no idea how long I have been working on this, but I am proud of the end result. I hope that I can do more posts like this in the future, because I found this a whole lot of fun.
Are you interested in this album? If you have listened to it before, do you have a favourite song from it? What do you think of Elbow? Let me know in the comments.
That is it for today then, guys. I will speak to you very soon.

    Have a marvellous day!
